WINTER JOURNEY
Published by huwspodcast
Huw Parsons was born in 1954 in the village of Llyswen, in the Wye valley, in the old Welsh county of Breconshire. He was educated at Brecon Boys Grammar School and Chelsea School of Art. During his life he's had many occupations; a painter, youth worker, film maker, photographer, graphic designer, industrial draughtsman, antique dealer and watch repairer, but in 2008 he began writing and has concentrated solely on that since then. His worst working moments were when, at eighteen years old and two in the morning, he realised that his job as a Kit-Kat wafer baker in York's Rowntrees sweet factory wasn't going to give him a happy future. Whilst his best moments were when he was telephoned from New York by The Pollock Krasner Foundation to be told that he'd been awarded a large grant, enough money to pay all his expenses for a whole year while he produced new paintings. Amongst his literary influences are the books of Leslie Thomas and Laurie Lee, the poems of John Betjeman and the song lyrics of Jake Thackray and Sting. View all posts by huwspodcast
